YouTube VR App is Making Virtual Reality Mainstream

Who is ready for YouTube VR? Let’s check in with what Google / YouTube is doing with virtual reality and how this new release is propelling virtual reality into the main stream.

The YouTube VR App released today and I don’t know about you – but WOAH this virtual reality thing is now bigger than anything I could imagine. Virtual Reality has gone mainstream, something I never thought possible.

Daydream View and YouTube Virtual Reality

In order to get started with virtual reality and YouTube, you just need a Daydream-ready phone like Pixel and the new Daydream View headset and controller.

What is Daydream View?

The Daydream View headset and controller is designed for an easy, comfortable viewing experience. The Daydream view headset is lightweight and is made to fit over most eyeglasses. You can even wash it.

The Daydream controller lets you interact with the virtual world. It has smart sensors that understand your movements and gestures and an adjustable volume button that lets you turn up your experience.

Using the Daydream View is simple. You just drop in your phone and you’re ready to go.

Daydream View does require a Daydream-ready phone. Currently the only Daydream-ready phone is the Google Pixel.

The Daydream View is available at Best Buy, Google Store or Verizon.

YouTube VR App

The YouTube VR app was designed to give you a more immersive way to experience YouTube. This new standalone app was built from the ground up, optimized for VR. It will let you view 360-degree videos in a whole new way.

The videos on the YouTube VR app stay front and center. You can just lean back and enjoy your favorite videos and creators without needless movement.

The video screen can be repositioned for the most comfortable experience possible. You don’t need to stand and spin to take in the entire 360-degree VR experience – just grab the screen and move it to experience it.
