It was a great time with lots of food, fun, laughter, kids and a few injuries but we survived. We made it happen and the hit was the chicken buffalo ranch dip. I’m going to show you how to make this Instant Pot dip in less than 10 minutes. But don’t worry for the traditional folk, I also have the tried and true old school method, but done IP style. Let’s start IPing!

If you haven’t had chicken buffalo ranch dip, bless your heart. In all seriousness – it’s a yummy delicious dip and a great alternative to queso (there is nothing wrong with queso.) It tastes like buffalo chicken wings with ranch, but even better – it has were calling my name this weekend. This dip has been a regular in our parties for years. It all started when my sister-in-law made it for a party and then our friends started making it, now we always chuckle when we see it.  You can make it spicy or well it will still have a kick, but you can most definitely tone down the heat (or turn it up! I like it HOT!)

Gotta love Franks Red Hot sauce! Use as much as you want to make the Instant Pot Chicken Buffalo Ranch Dip as hot or mild as you like. (It will still be somewhat hot with this stuff!)

I’m including 2 Instant Pot Chicken Buffalo Ranch Dip Recipes here. One is if you want to make this dip the more traditional way – but I occasionally use a hack to save time and i’ve included that recipe here – keep scrolling to read!

Traditional Instant Pot Chicken Buffalo Ranch Dip

Here are the ingredients for making our Instant Pot Chicken Buffalo Ranch Dip Recipe:

  • 1 lb chicken (season to your liking with salt, pepper, garlic) 
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 1/2 bottle Franks Red Hot Sauce (Franks buffalo wing sauce works as well)
  • 1/2 bottle Ranch dressing
  • 1 cup of water or chicken broth
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar (either mild cheddar or sharp cheddar will work!)
  • Tortilla Chips or Fritos (I prefer Tortilla, my kids love this with Frito Corn Chips!)

Place 1 lb seasoned chicken in the Instant Pot with 1 cup of chicken broth or water. Next, close the lid – make sure you are sealed and set the IP for 12 minutes. If your chicken is frozen, I would up the time to 15 minutes. 

Note: By the time the chicken is pressurized, it will take around 25-30 minutes. 

After your Instant Pot dings, quick release the seal. Next, is the easy part. You can either shred the chicken first, or what I do is just dump all of the ingredients and stir. So take your cream cheese, shredded cheese, ranch dressing and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and mix your dip together! That’s it!  

I make this ahead of time, and then put the Instant Pot on slow cooker. This keeps the dip warm, without burning. I had 2 hours before my party, I did stir a few times just to make sure all was well (and it was delish!)

QUICK Instant Pot Chicken Buffalo Ranch Dip – Less Than 10 Minutes to Make!

If you are in a hurry and need a quick dip, the Instant Pot chicken buffalo ranch dip will not fail you with this hack! That’s right, this will take less than 10 minutes to make! WINNING!

  • 2 cans of chicken (season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic to your liking)
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 1/2 bottle Franks Red Hot Sauce (Franks buffalo wing sauce works as well)
  • 1/2 bottle Ranch dressing
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar (either mild cheddar or sharp cheddar will work!)
  • Tortilla Chips or Fritos (I prefer Tortilla, my kids love this with Frito Corn Chips!)

In my hurry, I really didn’t want to cook ANOTHER meat. I mean we had 24 burgers to get prepped! I looked into our cabinet and we had 2 cans of chicken that I had bought at Sams Club. I hadn’t used these in forever. The good news, is the expiration on these is forever out. I don’t use often, but SO it is so worth keeping these handy for last minute needs. Anyways, on to the recipe!

Empty the water out of the 2 cans of chicken. Place the chicken in the Instant Pot. Season the chicken well, canned chicken is so bland. And the smell – let’s mask that smell! 

Next, you will put your Instant Pot on sauté . You will sauté your chicken for 3-4 minutes. Since the chicken is cooked, you are just warming up the chicken and getting the pot hot. 

Then, place all of the ingredients in the Instant Pot. With this quick recipe, you don’t need the chicken broth because there is no need to pressurize. 

Stir the ingredients quickly, as you don’t want anything to burn. You are just melting the items together. 

Finally, when all of the ingredients resemble the Chicken Buffalo Ranch Dip – you will turn the IP off, and then back on with the Slow Cooker function. 

Instant Pot Chicken Dip and Chips

Use tortilla chips or corn chips, either way – this instant pot dip does NOT disappoint!

When you are done, serve in a bowl – garnish with a little shredded cheese and serve with tortilla chips or corn chips. YUM! NOM! 

Instant Pot as a Slow Cooker 

I don’t use the Instant Pot  as a slow cooker often, but this function comes VERY handy when you need to heat up an item and leave it. It doesn’t work with every meal, but when it works – it works!
