One thing I’ve learned is if I don’t see my friends without my kids for an extended period of time, I get a little stir crazy. I have a great group of gals that I love and adore. We try to get together for a girls night out every month or so.
To me the perfect girls’ night out involves NO kids, laughter, conversation and fun. And wine, Orange Moscato wine.
Pinot’s Palette Lakewood offered a group of us bloggers a GNO a few weeks ago. I love to craft. I love a glass of wine. But paint? I would definitely need wine and good friends. Little did I know our night would contain all the ingredients for a perfect girls’ night out.
One of my good friends happens to be my sister (check her out at Dallas Socials.) We picked up a few bottles of wine, some snacks and headed to Pinot’s Palette. Neither of us had done a paint and wine party – I SO needed a GNO, but did I mention how uncomfortable I am with painting?
We arrived and found several blank canvases on easels with a small stage area featuring big easel. The walls were littered with darling paintings. We put our food and drinks down, met our instructor and were given a wine opener and wine glasses to get our drink on.
We had a group of 18 or so bloggers at the party. It’s a great group of gals. Most of us knew each other. We spent the first 20 minutes or so getting aprons on, choosing a spot and laughing.
The instructor was an absolute doll. She started us off by showing us the painting. We were going to draw a skyline of Dallas. It looked complicated. I was scared. When scared, continue to sip on wine.
First we drew an outline. The instructor and her assistant made sure we felt comfortable (even me) and encouraged us to paint how we felt like painting. With Pandora on the speakers, I painted my first painting! I learned quickly, I am NO Picasso. But I had so much fun. We laughed. We had great conversations. The wine was fabulous. It was a GREAT girls night out and was something I’d definitely do again.
At the end of the night, we were each given a post it note to vote for “Best in Show”. My dear friend Lea Ann from Mommy’s Wish List is a talented artist and of course, put a crazy creative spin on her Dallas skyline and wowed us all – and won.
Grab a girlfriend (or date!) and head to Pinot’s Palette Lakewood – you can save $10 by using code DFWBLOG – good for any of the public classes.

Thanks to our friends at Kind Bars and Neuro for the awesome swag! The maple pumpkin seeds with sea salt Kind bars equals AMAZING.
I love my new pillowcase and sleep mask Neuro. My son informed me I am not allowed to drink in bed, so it can’t be great in my bed. Oh child, you have so much to learn and I am so glad you are so innocent.
