Screen time is a hot topic. Our kids are digital natives. They don’t know anything BUT technology. This is a new area for parents since this topic and situation is so new – how are we to know what to do?
Here at Digital Mom Blog we talk a lot about screen time. As a mom to 4 kids, ranging in ages 5 to 14-years-old, we know the struggle is real when it comes to determining how much time is too much time. All of our kids have tablets, smartphones and computers – but knowing how much is too much is always something we are gauging and evaluating.
Kids Screen Time
We know that some parents manage their kids’ screen time heavily. Then there are other parents who don’t set limits. Then there are those of us who are left with questioning, how much screen time is too much?
As we’ve learned with all things parenting, there is not a right answer that is applicable to all. I wish I had the magic answer and could just wave my magic wand and give you what you want to hear. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works, sorry folks!
Addicted to Screens
Something else we have learned is that screen time management isn’t just for kids! Us adults need to learn how to manage our time in front of screens as well. Too many of us are addicted to our smart phones, televisions, computers, laptops, tablets and more. We are on our smartphones all day and night. We are on our computers for work and personal. We have Netflix to keep us awake all hours watching endless hours of TV. I’m not complaining – just saying. Boundaries are a good thing.
