Last Thursday night, I piled our 2 older kids and my niece in the car and drove downtown to see Newsies at Winspear Opera House in downtown Dallas.
Honestly, after parking the car I had a moment of “uh, should these kids be here?” The crowd was mostly adults and my kids – well they are kids. ?The laugh, make fart jokes and are LOUD. I gave them a pep talk, said a little prayer and we headed to see the show.
We arrived just before 8, which was show time. I recommend planning to arrive at least 30 minutes early to get parked and settled in to your seat. As soon as the show started, the kids were all in a trance – glued to it! They were complete angels, totally into the show. My daughter has been singing tunes from the show ever since. My son wears his Newsies cap and tries to dance.
If you are wanting to introduce your kids to theatre and give them a slice of broadway here in the big D, definitely check out Newsies. I would recommend bringing kids ages 10 and up.
