The Beatles on iTunes – Whoopty Doo.

The Beatles on iTunes – Whoopty Doo.

9:00 am Today – I Paused a Meeting

Today at 9 am I was in a meeting. I asked my team if I could check something for 30 seconds – turned to my computer – typed in apple.com and BAM:

beatles on itunes

The Beatles are on iTunes.

Really Apple?

I WAS TOLD THAT Tomorrow is just another day you won’t forget.

All that hype for that?

Sure I love the Beatles. I’m sure we have several of their songs that we’ve ripped from CDs to MP3s.  Maybe worth mentioning in a banner ad….. not a home page blow up. Don’t deceive your anxiously awaiting Tribe or Cult or whatever you have following you Apple with a tease of something big.  Oh BUT wait – not only does this Beatles on iTunes thing get huge website coverage – the news is headed to your TV screen with a whole series of commercials.

Big apologies to my team for pausing for that 30 seconds.  Totally not worth it!

Why the Hype?

There are a few things that are causing the Apple iTunes getting the Beatles to be such a hype in Apple’s eyes.  Getting the Beatles to iTunes in an exclusive agreement (that goes thru 2011) signifies victory over the traditional old school music industry.  Steve Jobs has apparently been working on this for years. I’m sure he’s paying a pretty penny for this.

Also- Apple Corp is owned by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the widows of George Harrison and John Lennon (Yoko Ono).  Apple Corp? Apple, Inc? Similar? Yes. There has been a on-going feud since 1978 over trademark and symbol and yadda yadda.

Or my guess is that this was in the contract. I can see Yoko Ono in Steve Job’s face yelling ” If you want the Beatles music you have to pay. Use your Apple advertising muscle and sell our music.”

Grandma Now Will Want an iPod

I guess this does mean big business for all of the baby boomers who can’t rip their CD’s or vinyls and must get their hands on all things Beatles.

Grandma’s going to want an iPod!   Maybe that’s what Apple was hoping for I’m sure.

I Guess The Beatles Are a Big Deal

Well guess my guesses from yesterday were wrong. I guess after all these year’s the Beatles are still a big thing.

Angry Birds Game

Angry Birds Game

Angry Birds is the current #2 app seller in the iTunes app store. It’s been #1 for weeks, but apparently a little thing called the World Cup has sparked the fire on the FIFA World Cup iPhone app, knocking Angry Birds from it’s top reign.

Angry Birds Game

As of May, the Angry Birds game has generated approximately 2.35 MILLION paid downloads – since it’s launch in December. Not too shabby! Here’s the premise of the Angry Birds game.

Angry Birds Things

Once upon a time, there were birds who were over the moon happy about laying eggs. Mean evil green pigs wanted these eggs so they stole them. The birds got angry (hence, the name Angry Birds).

The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the Birds eggs. Use the unique destructive powers of the Angry Birds to lay waste to the pigs fortified castles.

Angry Birds features hours of gameplay, challenging physics-based castle demolition, and lots of replay value. Each of the 63 levels requires logic, skill, and brute force to crush the enemy.

Angry Birds is ADDICTIVE. As stupid is it looks, is about how stupid you will feel after looking at the clock and realizing that 4 hours has past, you iPhone is about to die and yet you are STILL playing Angry Birds trying to kill the mean evil green pigs.

Have you read our All Things Angry Birds

I downloaded this while on a road trip a few weeks ago. This is a total waste of time like with any game, but is totally fun. The strategy element has you playing over and over hoping to achieve the ability to retrieve the Angry Birds GOLDEN Eggs!

Don’t miss out on our Angry Birds Cheats!

Good news for those non-iPhoners. Angry Birds is also available for Nokia 900 (N900). Attention ROVIO – Android would love Angry Birds as well (or at least my husband would – there look you would sell 1, at least!).

Here is the Angry Birds in-game trailer:
