How to paint your nails – yes, please. I think I have admitted it here before, but the truth is I can’t paint my own nails for the life of me. It always amazes me with all of these fun tutorials that have come out on fun nail art designs, and I can paint my daughter’s nail, no problem. But mine? I need basics people.

Painting your nails 101. That’s what I need and thanks to the wonderful interwebs, us failed nail artists have hope.

Here is How to Paint Your Nails Like a Professional:

This chick had me at “black nail polish”. I attempted to DIY my nails once with black nail polish and all I can say is “no bueno”.

Here are her tips for painting your own nails:

  • TINY strokes
  • Leave visible nail on the sides and above the cuticle (you will cover this area though, when you put on a clear top coat).

We shall see. Attempting this after my nails grow out the shellac polish I currently have.

Shellac Nails – Worth the Upgrade!

I do have to give a shout out to shellac nails (it’s what i’m babbling about today). If you are going to the nail salon for a manicure, most definitely upgrade to Shellac. It’s safer than gel nails and my nails still look good after a month. Yes, a month – and I have 2 babies and wash dishes daily. These things last.

  1. Yeah, first rule of a professional, wipe down your nails with polish remover to remove any oils or lotion. Second rule – USE A BASECOAT!!! They are designed to dry fast and keep polish on without chipping, so you don’t have to paint them 2 to 3 times a week.
