Are you on Google+? How many time have you been asked that? It’s all the buzz in the digital world. What are your thoughts on the newest social network from the biggest media giant?
First Impressions of Google+:
Very nice Google. The first thing I really appreciate is the detail and focus on privacy. Not that I am all about hiding everything online, but do know this is a major issue for several. While yes, you can make privacy updates to Facebook, but to make it is cumbersome.
What are Google+ Circles? These are the “groups” or “categories” that you segment your contacts into.:
There are the initial circles setup:
Friends, Family, Acquaintances, Following
You can then setup additional circles. Example, an additional circle that I’ve setup is Bloggers. This way I can classify my contacts as such.
So what do you do with the circles? The Google+ circles allow for communication with direct vertical contacts in any of your circles. While yes, you can still connect with your entire contact base – sometimes that is TMI for the world. Example: my blog – I don’t like tweeting or facebooking my blog all the time to my entire list. You can select the niche circle that you want to connect with and communicate as such.
Google+ Sparks are your general interests and topics you are passion about.
Google+ Hangouts allows you to instantly video group chat with several of your friends.
Google+ Huddle is the chat feature – think gtalk on steroids. You can loop several people in for a group chat.
Google+ Settings are very easy to use and fine tune your settings. Check out the basics here:
