A friend of mine had sent me a video of the Talking Carl iPhone app talking to another iPhone. I knew right away 2 things.
1. I MUST download Talking Carl
2. I MUST include both the iPad and the iPhone in the mix for Talking Carl to scream at his digital twin
Mission was on. I downloaded Talking Carl on both iPhone and iPad -- sat thae devices up next to each other then….. BABY started squealing.
PERFECT!
So that is what ended up in the video. The baby talking to Talking Carl and Talking Carl iPhone talks to Talking Carl iPad to make obnoxious sounds back and forth to annoy me and baby.
My 2 older kids (5 & 7) now fight for the iPad to play with Talking Carl. Poor Carl has had to repeat television shows, screaming kids, toys that make sounds… the list goes on.
Digital Mom Review:
Talking Carl is fun, cheap and entertaining (especially when you make him repeat himself with another device). Though the app gets annoying, it kept my kids occupied for more than 10 minutes! And for 99 cents and more than 10 minutes of keeping the kids busy? I call this AWESOME.
Today in the WOFfice, the subject of Angry Birds sparked quite the conversation. The conversation carried-on to Twitter. Angry Birds obviously has secured its place in iPhone and iPad success if my non-typical gamer friends are playing!
For those of you who have played Angry Birds for hours on end and can’t seem to beat the level, this post is for you. Here are the Angry Birds Cheats -- Walkthrough for each level. Or if you don’t like the word CHEAT… what about this…. here are your Angry Birds hints
So you have an iPhone and an iPad and you swear the Apple cables look the same. Well you are right. Apple ships the same cables/cords with the iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone. But, isn’t there always a but? The difference is in the voltage needed to power each.
iPod, iPhone & iPad Cables & How to Charge Explained – What I Can Use to Charge What
Here’s the deal with pictures – for us right-brain visual types who need photos to learn!
iPod Touch & iPhone
You can charge your iPod Touch and iPhone using the apple cables with your computer OR with the 5 watt USB power adapter for the iPod Touch, iPhone or the iPad.You can also use the 10 watt USB power adapter (that came with the iPad) to charge your iPod Touch or iPhone – it will NOT increase the speed in which your devide charges.
iPad
You can charge your iPad using the apple cables with your computer – though you may receive a "Not Charging" message on your iPad. What does the "Not Charging" message on your iPad mean? It simply means your USB isn’t providing enough voltage to efficiently charge your iPad. Your iPad WILL STILL CHARGE – just at a very very slow rate, especially if you are using it while charing on a computer. This message does not happen everytime, so if you are showing that your iPad is charging, no worries!
You can charge you iPad with the 10 watt USB Apple power adapter that came with your iPad, as well as the 5 watt USB Apple power adapter that came your iPhone or iPod touch… BUT it will charge at a very slow rate. The Apple iPad needs the 10 watt USB power adapter to fully charge in the intended amount of time.
Facts About Charging the Power on Apple Devices:
The iPad fully charges in 2.5 hours – when charged with a 10 watt USB power adapter.
The iPhone and iPod touch also charge fully in 2.5 hours – when using a 5 watt USB power adapter.
Apple iPhone & iPad Cords – Buy in Buik
And a side note, I love you Apple but you are expensive, and this girl is cheap. I buy my cords in bulk from Monoprice. Say what you will… they’ve always worked just dandy for me. Sometimes, I feel like Apple gnomes sneak in at night and steal my cables.. therefore I must always have 6 stashed away in a drawer.
This image is making its shared away around Facebook. I chuckled and thought about the many times I admittedly have almost wrecked while doing something on my phone.
That *#W&4@# iPhone. As cool as you are, you are dangerous and should have an automatic KILL SWITCH when it realizes that you are driving, now that would be a SMART PHONE.
After a close call a few months back while pregnant, I made a commitment to really make an exerted effort to put away the phone and if I am talking to use my Motorola Rokr (bluetooth – handsfree device) rather than holding the phone. Admitting that makes me feel like I drank while pregnant, but hey I just want to keep it real and honest. And no I didn’t drink while pregnant and let’s hope you did not find this blog entry by googling “drinking and driving while pregnant” (but if you did, don’t do that.)
My few months of maternity leave had me watching the Oprah. And the Oprah has her no phone challenge. I signed it. Now her next campaign needs to be, no putting make-up on while driving.
Do you text (or surf, or tweet, or blog, or etc…) while you drive?
Stop. Because I like you and would love it if you could read my blog post tomorrow (okay, that isn’t the reason, because I have NOTHING brilliant planned, but do come back and read tomorrow )
My little I is now 14 weeks old. He’s so stinking cute, I can’t stand it. His new thing is playing – which entails grabbing an object and shaking it to death or thinking about sticking it in his mouth.
Introducing the best toy for your digital baby. My poor kid is bound to grow up digitized. I found this toy and my heart skipped a beat.
This is a wooden toy iPhone with a laminate screen. The wood is very light weight and smooth. This way the kid can chew all he wants on it and then throw it across the room without hurting someone (well I gues it would be slobbery!).
If you are looking for a cute baby gift for parents that are iPhone fantatics, or if you just want your baby to have all the toys the cool digital kids have – check out the wooden iPhone.
Well despite the obvious that the iPhone 4G is down right awesome, here are the top 10 reason I want the new iPhone 4G. I would say NEED, but there are people in the world that are starving. Until that NEED is met, I just want (selfishly and Americanly, want).
10. The iPhone 3GS battery sucks. The iPhone 4G battery won’t suck (as bad!)
The new iPhone 4G battery is said to last between 6-7 hours. My 3GS battery dies more often then I would like to admit, it is no where near the 6-7 hour range of the 4G! Apple has shrunk the guts and enlarged the battery for a longer life and more Words with Friends playtime (okay, I made that up.). 40% more talk time? Yes, please.
9. Multi-Tasking for ADD Me
The iPhone 4G will let you quickly switch between applications. My ADD will love this.
8. Retina Display (Nice Fancy Word, Apple)
The retina display is the highest resolution ever built into a phone. You’ll notice less image distrotion due to the 960 by 640 resolution on the LCD screen. (that is 4x as many pixels as the iPhone 3GS!). See the right image – more pixels equals smoother picture.
7. Skinny – What Girl Doesn’t Want Something Thinner?
Apple put the iPhone on a diet. 24% thinner than current iPhone and only 9.3mm thick, yep, the iPhone got skinny. You know what else this means? There will be a whole new line of covers for the 4G – you won’t be able to use your 3G or 3GS covers on the new baby.
6. Facetime – the New Video Chat App
Skype, did you hear this? Apple has a new video chat app called Facetime. You will be able to chat utilizing the front and rear facing cameras! Yes, you read that right. The new 4G will have 2 cameras, front and back.
5. HD Video Recordings That You Can Edit From Your 4G
Wow. HD video recording and iMovie for editing videos will be available on the new iPhone. So now your crappy YouTube videos can have music and cute intros, all videoed, edited and uploaded from your mobile device!
4. Vamped up Camera with a Zoom, Focus and Flash!
The 4G will have a 5MP camera with 5x zoom, tap to focus and LED flash. My hippsmatic app will LOVE this. More and more, though I love my Canon, I use my iPhone since it’s always on me (and doesn’t weigh 10 lbs).
3. The iPhone 4G is SO Pretty
The new 4G is sleek. The iPhone’s edges are not so rounded creating a new look – distinguishing itself from the previous generations. The new iPhone’s case is stainless steel and comes in black and white (still no pink).
Did I mention the custom glass Apple created? It’s 30x harder than plastic and is used on the front and back of the phone. So maybe we won’t see as many of those broken iPhone screens as we did with the 3rd generation phones.
(ps, if your iPhone screen glass does break, check Craigs List – often times you can get the screen repaired for under $100)
2. Single Unified Inbox – YES Please
I currently have 5 email accounts setup on my iPhone 3GS. With the iPhone 4G, I’ll be able to view all emails in 1 unified inbox.
1. ENVY – I KNOW I Will Be Drooling Over Other’s 4G iPhones
Sadly, unless I can talk the baby daddy into opening another line – I’ll have to impatiently hold on the 4G. We’ll see how long my patience will last. Until then, i’ll mock up photos of my kid into the 4G. It doesn’t hurt to pretend.

As sour as I am that my contract doesn’t renew soon, when it comes to the new features on the iPhone 4G -- mommy likes.
