Photo Pro X iPhone Case Review

Photo Pro X iPhone Case Review

I am an avid iPhone user and a digital mom. My phone is often given to my kids (or stolen by them) so as I have mentioned before, a case that is sturdy is a MUST! I typically use a Otterbox Defender. A few weeks ago, Optrix emailed and offered to send me one of their Photo Pro X cases to review. I immediately said YES! YES! 1,000x YES! because of 2 things.

1. The case is made to defend your phone.
2. Their case offers a set of photo lenses for your iPhone!

I love iPhone photography, and with lenses, I couldn’t wait to test this case out.  I have had it on my iPhone for the last week and so far – TOO FUN! I absolutely am loving the lenses, particularly the fish-eye lens. Here is a photo of my friend’s newbie, shot with the Optrix case and the fish-eye lens:

Pretty cool, right?

iPhone Lenses

Here are the 4 iPhone lenses that come with the Photo Pro X:

Macro Lens: The Optrix Macro Lens offers a nearly 10x magnification to give stunning detail when focused from 10-25mm from subject.

Zoom Lens: The Optrix Telephoto Lens is designed to add 2X optical zoom to your photos.

Fisheye Lens: Use the all-glass, three element, 175° Fish-eye Lens to increase the field-of-view of the 120° angle lens of the iPhone.

Flat Lens: Protect your iPhone underwater and get crystal-clear shots.

The case is made to go underwater (we are going to have tons of fun with that come summer!) and has a leash attached to it, which I have found fun to just wear around. I am a wristlet wearer – so it works perfect with my lifestyle.

The case itself is comparable in size to the Otterbox Defender.

The only downside, the case isn’t made for taking selfies. I’m not much of a selfie taker, and didn’t even notice this until my kid – the selfie taker, got ahold of my phone.

Photo Pro X Review

photo pro x caseHere’s a little more about the Photo Pro X case….. It is the world’s first and only waterproof, drop proof camera housing device that features four interchangeable lenses that allow you to get studio quality photos from your phone, where you can still instantly upload them to share with friends and family, and send them to print without any extra work.

The iPhone is by far the most popular and most used camera phone in the world, and more and more people are looking for ways to bring the photo quality to the next level. Optrix provides you not only with the right lens to make that happen, but it also allows you to get into those dirty, crazy angles for that perfect picture without getting your phone or camera dirty or banged up. The best part? You can still upload your photos to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Flickr with the touch of a button, instantly.

If you’re wondering about the durability of the cases, don’t be! Optrix iPhone cases have been field tested for years and have received lots of customer feedback to make them perfect.  Optrix takes the cases so seriously, they hired the company that builds laptops for the US military to build them. In other words- the cases last and they work!

EDIT: Okay, I just realized something and feel that it’s important to add in. It hasn’t changed how I feel about the case, BUT I realize everyone uses their phone differently. If use your phone as a phone (I don’t talk on the phone often and if I do – it’s through the bluetooth in my vehicle) – do know you cannot use the full case and talk on the phone. This DOES come with a simple case that you slide on to your iPhone before placing it in the waterproof encasement so your phone isn’t totally unprotected. Just wanted to make sure to note this after discovering this (3 weeks after I’ve use the phone and actually wanted to use my phone as a phone – told you I never talk on the phone!)

Waterproof Your iPhone

Have you ever wished you could waterproof your iPhone or mobile device? Have you ever had a kid drop a phone in the toilet or splash it with water? I have a certain family member *cough* Stephanie *cough* that has dropped iPhone into the toilet on more than 1 occasion.  The incidents have resulted in replacing her iPhone. Fortunately, Apple has been nice and accommodating, but she’s lucky (and probably flirted with the sales guy).

We came across a new technology for waterproofing. It’s a process on the market that will waterproof your iPhone or mobile device called Liquipel.  This is NOT a waterproof iPhone case or waterproof wrap. It’s a new technology.

Watch as the iPhone is submerged and comes out unscathed!

Do note Liqiupel says it’s coating should be used as a precautionary measure for incidents involving water. This process doesn’t allow you to purposely go into the pool or scuba diving with your device. I am sure that new technology is coming, but this isn’t what that is.

I wonder what siri would say to this?

What is Liquipel and How Does it Waterproof My Device

Liquipel is a Nano coating that protects your device from accidental water damage.  This is NOT a case and your smart phone will look and feel the same as it did before. The Liquipel coating is 1,000 times thinner than a human hair. It doesn’t effect the performance, look or feel of your device and lasts the lifetime of your device.

How Does Liquipel Waterproof Your Device?

The company puts your mobile device into a machine and permiates your entire device.

What about the headphone jack and charging ports?

Water does go into the headphone jacks and charging ports but does not hinder your device in any way. Liquipel is a non conductive coating that allows currents to transfer back and forth when there is a direct connection. What this means is you are able to charge, use headphones and access micro usb or sim cards just as you did before with no problem.

Liquipel Device List

Here is a list of other devices that they can waterproof:

  • Apple iPod Shuffle
  • Apple iPhone 4s
  • Apple iPhone 4
  • Apple iPhone 3g/s
  • Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile)
  • Galaxy S2 (AT&T)
  • HTC Evo 4G
  • HTC Evo Shift 4G
  • HTC MyTouch 4G
  • Motorola Droid X/X2
  • Samsung Charge

They are adding new devices regularly.

Digital Mom Says…

This Liquipel stuff is very cool new technology, now if if could only kid proof things – you like like my house.  It’s pricey, but so is a new Apple iPhone replacement.
