Woot is a website hosts a one day one deal for one product. At midnight, a new product emerges and us Wootities run to the site to see what it is to purchase. Woot saw the success of the one day one deal model and expanded its brand to now include 1 day 1 deal woot deals for wine, children, shirts and sell out.
Woot has a silly product called Bag O’ Crap. What is a Bag O’ Crap? Basically you pay $5 and Woot sends you just that, a Bag O’ Crap. But get this. The Bags O’ Crap sell out in minutes. My co-worker has purchased a few, basically the products consists of randomness of either broken items, something silly that works -- really a bunch of leftovers -- sold to you thru the brilliance of Woot marketing.
Woot is a game changer. Many others have taken the Woot idea, now there are several one day one sale sites running for various niches. But Woot still does it best.
Woot is also known for their Woot-offs. A Woot-off is consists of Woot continually putting new products online as one sells out. Think of it as a 24-72 hour marathon QVC blog post style shopping. Random? YES. Does it work, DOUBLE YES. Woot-off’s are tons of fun -- hardcore bargain shopping for hours on end.
Not Me Monday is dedicated to confessing your imperfections and BOY oh boy yesterday, yes Father’s Day me and imperfect went hand and hand.
Truth be told, last week was stressful. Though i’ve been working the last several weeks – this past week was my first week back in the office. We are in the midst of 4 major projects and having to adjust to getting dressed and making sure that 3 kids get to their rightful places made for me 1 tired mama this weekend.
Father’s Day snuck up on me this year. I always try to make it special for Sean as he deserves it all. He is a wonderful father and husband. I seriously couldn’t ask for a more patient man. PLUS he makes EXTREMELY cute babies.
ANYWHOO. Me and my stress-exhaustion let Sean have it on Sunday. For some stupid reason I just was totally non-friendly this afternoon with my husband, and yes on Father’s day. After finally realizing I needed some down time, Sean took the older kids out.
Feeling guilty for the wicked person I was, I thought – i’ll surprise Sean with the ULTIMATE steak dinner. Knowing the fam would be gone for a few hours, I went all out.
The menu called for: steaks, grilled zucchini, blue cheese sauteed onions, rice, and corn. All topped off with homemade cupcakes.
Everything was going super until my A.D.D. got in the way. Me trying to do too many things at once never ends good. This is what the result was:
Yes, that’s burnt steak. And I won’t even go into what the zucchini looked like (CHARRED!)
Sigh…. I tried to hold it together. I was able to somehow cut off SOME meat, very well done so Sean had SOME steak for dinner.
But at least the happy homemade cupcakes turned out fabulous.
Here is to a happy next week with less stress, more happiness and less crabby Molly!
Working for a publisher, this is EXTREMELY good news!
E-book sales from the 13 publishers that report results to the Association of American Publishers’ monthly sales program rose nearly 252% in the first quarter of 2010, to $91 million, the association reported this morning. Growth actually slowed somewhat in March from the earlier two months, but sales still increased 184.8% to $28.5 million. The e-book gains were easily the biggest in the industry in both the quarter and March. The AAP added a new category in the month, downloadable audio, and sales from the 10 companies that reported results rose 32.5% in the quarter, to $16.4 million; March sales were up 29.3%, to $6.2 million. Sales of traditional audio were up 14.7% for the quarter and 8.6% for March.
Phineas and Ferb talk to kids about internet safety. I’d add a "your parents can see everything you do" to the video, but overall it’s a good simple PSA that my kids will listen to, since Phineas and Ferb obviously know more than their mother.
Meet my nephew Preston. He is still this adorable (except now a wee bit bigger). At 2 months, he started flashing these HEART melting gummy smiles.
To this day, when I look at this picture it’s like i’m there holding him as a baby, and he is grinning at me telling me telepathically to spoil him rotten.
A smile can brighten the darkest day. ~Author Unknown

The wonderful world of Twitter. A tweet goes out asking if you are a mom bloggers in the big D (Dallas). I respond and am invited to a screening of the movie BABIES. While I often get pitches, this one is something I had to bite on.
While pregnant, I stumbled across the trailer for the Babies film. Being the sappy preggo I was (okay, I am just an all around sappy person) -- I forwarded to several friends and said we must see. Fast forward a few months… an invite to see ahead of time? uhm. YES PLEASE.
Me-Date
SO me, myself and I had a me-date. Hubby took half a day so that I could have sometime to herself. I headed to the theatre, sat alone and was ready to absorb some me time. And what happened? I laughed. I cried and I missed my baby -- all while I watched other babies.
About the Babies Film
Babies features 4 different children from 4 parts of the world and shows how they are raised for the first year. I couldn’t help myself but to compulsively type notes into my iPhone about each of the countries and how they bring up their kids. There were so many details, I’m going to have to go watch the movie again just to watch for anymore background stuff.
4 Kids. 4 Cultures.
I could sit here and tell you everything I saw in the film and it wouldn’t be enough. You have to see this cinematography and hear the amazing soundtrack to really experience watching these kids grow during their first year of life.
Here are the kids featured and what you need to watch for in the film:
Ponijao raised in Opuwo, Namibia
You must see:
How Ponijao’s mom cleans the babies poop (I GAGGED OUTLOUD)
Why nursing bras suddenly don’t look so bad
The feet of these people
What a true BABY WEARER is
The support and connectedness of the entire family
How the few gnats I run into every now and then aren’t that bad
Mari raised in Tokyo, Japan
You must see:
How ALMOST American Tokyo is
There is a major LOVE for the MacClaren stroller in Japan
What a great maternity dress Mari’s mom has
Bayar raised in Bayanchandmani, Mongolia
You must see:
The cloths used during delivery (this would have me delivering at home)
How they tie the babies’ swaddle
The mode of transportation from the hospital to home (OMG -- another GASP out loud!)
How we "baby gate" our children -- this family just ropes them to the bed
The way cows and goats are like a dog would be to us in America
Hattie raised in San Francisco, California
You must see:
The dad lint rolls the baby (hmmm… OCD much? or maybe I just don’t care, whoops)
How spoiled we are in America with our moderness
Each of the babies featured are different but each are raised with love. This film totally brought a new perspective and a realization of how spoiled we are here.
The Me Date Isn’t Over Yet
Like any good date, it should end with dessert. After the film I drove myself to Society Bakery and indulged in a chocolate cupcake (and bought the fam some goodies, because OMG LAURA & BECKY that place IS UH-MAZE-ING!).
Side note: The Ellen Degeneres Show named their cupcakes one of the top 10 in America.
Jack Handy Moment
I love something, in this case this film -- that makes me look at myself and reflect. (HOW JACK HANDY OF ME!). Not only is this film fascinating, it also made me read into myself. I am a TOTAL worry wart over my kids. I never thought I was, but seeing how other cultures raise their kids, I really am a freak.
I have to not stress so much about my kiddos well being, if these kids in remote countries turn out fine -- my spoiled children will end up just dandy.
Maybe I won’t worry SO much if the bugs get a few viles of my kids’ blood.
Maybe i’ll try belting my kids to the bed to stay in a generalized location (I am joking people).
Maybe my kid doesn’t necessarily need his wipes warmed before I use them to clean his butt.
Maybe I should include my older kids more in the raising of my newbie.
So thankful I saw this film
Maybe I need to learn more about other cultures and appreciate what I have and lay off on the wanting and materialism. I know. Easier said (or blogged) then done.
Full disclosure: I did not receive any mula for pitching this. I AM a bzzagent and am eligible to win prizes by using their promo materials. Hands down honest: I loved this movie and wouldn’t be praising it if I didn’t!
It’s in my blood. It’s the reason I own over 20 domain names. It’s what I’ll retire being.
ENTREPRENEUR
For those of you with the passion of entrepreneuring, enjoy this video:
Do you remember when you were a kid
and you thought you could do anything?
you still can.
because a lot of what we consider impossible is easy to overcome
because in case you haven’t noticed, we live in a place where
one individual can make a difference.
Want proof?
Just look at the people who built our country:
Our Parents
Grandparents
Our Aunts
Uncles
The were immigrants, newcomers ready to make their mark.
Maybe they came with very little
or perhaps they didn’t own anything except for
a single brilliant idea
These people were THINKERS, DOERS, INNOVATORS
until they came up with the name
ENTREPRENUERS
They change the way we think about what is POSSIBLE.
They have a clear vision of how life can be better
for all of us, even when times are tough.
Right now, it’s hard to see
When our view is cluttered with
OBSTACLES
But turbulence creates opportunities for
SUCCESS
ACHIEVEMENT
and pushes us to discover new ways of doing things.
So what opportunities will you go after and why?
If you’re an entrepreneur
you know that risk isn’t the reward.
NO.
The rewards are
Driving innovation.
Changing people’s lives.
Creating jobs.
Fueling growth.
and
Making a better world.
Entrepreneurs are everywhere.
They run small businesses that support our economy,
design tools to help you stay connected
with friends, family, and colleagues around the world
and they’re finding new ways of helping to solve society’s oldest problems
Do you know an entrepreneur?
Entrepreneurs can be anyone
even…
YOU
So, seize the opportunity to create the job you always wanted
Help heal the economy, make a difference.
Take your business to new heights, but most importantly remember
when you were a kid when everything was within your reach,
and then say to yourself quietly, but with determination:
It still is.
Izaiah is just fussy! Give the poor dude a break he is adjusting to this world we dragged him into.
Last night or I should say this morning at 3:30 am – I let myself accept the fact the dude has colic (or is colic – either way = NOT FUN).
My first child Z was also colicky. With her though, it was just one thing in a series of unfortunate events during her first year. Along with colic, she had a herniated belly button, lactose intolerance, projectile vomitting (acid reflux), and positional plagiocephaly (a flat head). I have to remind myself, she survived and turned out just peachy. So a kid with JUST colic really isn’t all that bad in the grand scheme of things.
This mom needs SLEEP.
In an effort to find an answer to what will work with I, here are the colic resources I’m trying:
Re-reading Happiest Baby on the Block. This book help tremendously with Z, so we’ll be introducing those techniques with I.
This to shall pass. On the bright side, it’s only at night from around midnight until oh 4am. He’s happy during the day and even when he is crying, he is EXTREMELY cute.
App Storm posted 30 super secret iPhone features and shortcuts. While several of these I knew, there are numerous that I had NO idea about!
A few favorite new things I’ve learned:
• You can send photos at full resolution
• The timer can be turned on to sleep your iPod.
• Favorite web pages can be added to your home screen for easy viewing
