I’ve made it to the 38 week mark. My iPhone has dinged with a push alert – “You have started a new week of pregnancy!”
WOOHOO! Baby is officially cooked. At our last ultrasound, bambino was on track for weight but it’s head was a week ahead. I am hoping that means she or he is really smart and that by head the ultrasound tech meant BRAIN. We are full-term and excited. Except I know – KNOW I am driving my husband nuts. He is on a honey do mission to get all things crazy things checked off of our to do lists and KUDOS to him, because we are almost done!
The nursery isn’t decorated, but the furniture is built. I thought we’d pretend we were Jewish and doing the waiting until baby is born until we decorate the nursery thing. Yeah, that’s it!
Z and E are ultra stoked and are working extra hard to make sure that I am happy, which is so sweet and kind and makes me love them that much more (if more was even possible).
With each Braxton Hick that I have where Z is around she screams “Are you having BIRTH!?!”
E thinks I am going to vomit up the baby. He tried to convince me last week he found a worm that gave birth in his hand. He is way to fascinated with birth for my comfort zone.
And I… WELL Izaiah is a bit freaked out. We moved him from his nursery into a new nursery in the back of our home this past week. While he is doing fine, he still has his crib and furniture – he is curious to what all of this “new” stuff is in what is suppose to be HIS room. Poor boy. He has NO idea what’s coming.
Work is good, just busy trying to get things accomplished and checked off on the list of to do’s. I have a great project manager temp in, along with a fabulous team of managers and friends who will keep things hopping along in my absence. The idea of not working just is weird, but i’ll enjoy the time off as I won’t be sleeping, but doing that MOM thing which I really love to do. Nothing beats a sweet newborn! Even if it means not vacationing this year – or in the next few years.
I love my 38 Week Recap from Baby Gaga:
Whether you give birth tomorrow (yes!) or next week (aw), your fantastic baby is pretty much 100% ready to face the world outside of your womb.
And by “ready”, we mean weak, helpless and unable to do anything other than cry, pee, poop, and eat.
Per Babble’s 38 Week Pregnancy Guide:
My babe is the size of 5 pears. That’s freaky.
Your baby is continuing to shed the lanugo (body hair) and producing more surfactant for the lungs, but other than that he/she is listening to your voice and eagerly getting into position to meet you.
COME OUT AND MEET US BABY! WE CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU!
I’ll let you know in the next few days if the baby actually heard me. Yes, I screamed that as I typed it. Don’t judge.
38 Weeks, I’d be happy if I didn’t type a 39 week update… just saying.
