My weekly email informed that our bambino is 16 inches long and approximately 3.5 lbs. He will be gaining .5 lb a week until birth. This email better be right making baby 8 lbs. Anything over 8 lbs – I don’t care to think about.
While
most weeks are uneventful, this week has started off a little shakey. I failed my 1 hour glucose test by 2 measily points. What’s a glucose test? Around 28 weeks (I was late taking mine), you drink this syrupy drink (think EXTRA Sprite with extra-extra syrup) that is SUPER DUPER sweet. You wait an hour then you have your blood drawn. If your levels are under 140 – you are peachy keen. Anything over the Dr orders a 3-hour test. My initial run came in at 142. (You MUST fast for 12 hours before this test, btw – hence why my first test failed).
Anywhoo, so this week I had to take the 3-hour. Sitting in the Dr’s office for 3 hours sounds miserable, but actually was the most productive 3-work hours I had all week. Serene music, lavendar smell and quietness for 55 minutes each hour was great. The other 5 minutes were spent being pricked and bruised.
Apparently my veins SUCK. After numerous jabs the nurse concluded that blood should always be drawn from my hand. Uhm, not fun – and i’ve got 4 bruises to prove it.
But after it was all said in done, I’m normal. Nothing to worry about.
Trying to keep my chin up and not think about the fact that i’ve been preggo for almost 8 months.
