The Name Game

hello-my-name-is

Oh the name game. The pressure of giving a kid a name that will represent him or her well. I am totally not a fan of the top 100 names, though my son has a somewhat normal name – I call him E. My daughter I call Z – what to call #3 is the question.

A name to me – represents a person. I really feel that people with the same names often represent the same characteristics. With that being said – I want my kids to grow up unique and as individuals. I also know that people judge by names, unfortunately. So no pressure here.

With this pregnancy, at least we know we are having a girl. With #2 we had no idea, so had to come up with boy and girl names. We brought a list to the hospital – and after delivering naturally I was in such relief to just have the kid – I made a deal with my husband…. he could name #2 IF he gave me #3 naming rights. I really think my husband thought we would only have 2. Fooled him hahaha.

So with this baby – I have my name and my husband has his opinion. On the bright side, I have successfully conned my 2 kids with $5 each and they now regularly call the baby by the name that I want.  I have a back up name – another name which my husband despises. I keep reminding him about the deal of me naming this kid – he seems to forget that little deal we have. If he only knew the pain of pushing a kid out without any drugs  – maybe that would spur his memory of “the deal”. :)

Oh the joys.  Have you heard a name that is unsual but not too wacky?  Drop me a comment. We need help and baby name sites suck.
